Hereford United 1 Yeovil Town 2 HEREFORD suffered their third 2-1 reverse in three outings as Yeovil left Edgar Street with all three points.
Bulls boss Graham Turner made three changes as he reverted to a 4-4-2 formation against Yeovil at Edgar Street.
As expected, goalkeeper Darren Randolph paid the price for some shaky displays in the first two matches and gave way to Craig Samson.
Steve Guinan was recalled to partner Moses Ahikodi in attack while Clint Easton took the place of Matt Done on the left.
Hereford forced the first opening inside the first minute.
Simon Johnson’s free-kick was flicked on by Sam Oji just beyond the reach of Moses Ashikodi.
Hereford continued to produce some neat build-up play without finding the final pass which might have produced danger.
It was the visitors who had the next real effort on goal when a header from Terry Skiverton following a Terrell Forbes cross flew wide.
Shortly afterwards, Samson was able to watch, untroubled, as Keiran Murtagh’s cross flashed a couple of yards off target.
The Glovers then scored twice in three minutes to establish firm control.
On 19 minutes, Danny Schofield’s shot from the edge of the area deflected off a Hereford player and went into the net off a post.
Then, a Johnson pass was picked off in midfield and Aidan Downes raced past Robbie Threlfall on the right before delivering a cross which Paul Warne rifled in at the near post.
Hereford forced five corners as they attempted to get back into the game but were unable to find a way to trouble keeper Asmir Begovic.
Samson, however, did have an anxious moment just before the break when Murtagh’s fierce drive screamed across goal and wide.
Playing down the slope in the second period, Hereford pressed forward strongly in search of the goal they needed to bring them some hope.
From their best move of the match, Simon Johnson got away on the right and saw his fierce cross-shot palmed behind for the first of three successive corners.
From the final one, Ashikodi appeared to be brought down by Begovic as he raced on to a Ben Smith pass only for referee Darren Deadman to wave away Hereford’s penalty appeals.
Schofield’s shot on the turn from a good position flew high over before Hereford resumed the attack.
Substitute Bradley-Hudson-Odoi should have hit the target when he headed a Guinan cross wide and then, Begovic easily fielded a long-range effort from Easton.
Yeovil continued to pose an attacking threat and substitute Danny Alcock headed inches over from a Lloyd Owusu flick.
Hereford’s hopes were finally raised nine minutes from the end when Begovic allowed a Smith shot to squirm from his grasp and Hudson-Odoi netted his first Bulls goal.
Two minutes into injury time, Guinan’s header from a Jack MacLeod corner hit a post and went behind to confirm the felling that Hereford’s luck was out.
