TWO walkers were rescued by air ambulance after getting into difficulty on the Herefordshire border.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received the first call at around 12.50pm this afternoon to Beacon Hill near Malvern and the County Air Ambulance from Strensham was dispatched to the scene.

Claire Thomas, West Midlands Ambulance press officer, said: "Crews found a woman believed to be in her 30s with an ankle injury.

"The woman was treated at the scene by crews before being flown to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

The second call was received at around 2.10pm to Pinnacle Hill, again near Malvern, and another helicopter was dispatched.

A man, believed to be in his 50s, had suffered a fractured ankle and air crews flew him to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment.
