Homes case: Labour calls for resignations

HEREFORD Labour party says that this morning’s High Court ruling against Herefordshire Council over the homes close to Bullinghope “all the arguments” made by objectors.
This morning’s judgement strongly criticises the council for failing to submit crucial evidence in its case for the homes.
To Hereford Labour the ruling is a “turning point” in the way the counnty and its council is run.
Group leader Councillor Chris Chappell went as far as to call for resignations from the ruling Tory group and a public probe into the way the issue was handled.
“If they have any integrity left, a number of people will now consider their position. What we want initially is an independent and public inquiry into how this all came to pass.
“The High Court decision is not about some minor technicalities, it reveals wilful and systematic contempt for due process and the rights of the public,” said Council Chappell.
A push for an emergency debate on the ruling, and its implications, at tomorrow’s (Friday’s) meeting of the full council is underway.
