TICKETS are now on sale for the 2008 Ross Live! Festival, which runs from Thursday, July 31, to Wednesday, August 20.

This year’s programme presents an exciting mix of world-class performers, together with a strong local involvement.

Noye’s Fludde will give local children and young people the chance to work with a professional director and musicians in Benjamin Britten’s wonderful opera for children. The 12-year-old violinist Hannah Roper will play the Bach E major Concerto with the Musical and Amicable Society Orchestra.

Forte Entertainment, newly formed from local musical theatre group X-Centricity, will be launching their programme in Showtime! at the Larruperz Centre, and amateur and professional singers and musicians come together from a wide area to rehearse and perform Verdi’s Requiem at Wyastone Concert Hall under Adrian Partington.

Heartbreak Productions return with their own take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream in The Secret Garden at The Royal Hotel.

“This is our fourth Ross Live! Festival,” says festival director Robin Symonds, “and we are finding it has acquired an individual character based on a combination of world-class performers and local participation.”

Also on the programme is the blind autistic musical savant Derek Paravicini who plays jazz, pop and light classical music on the piano with dazzling virtuosity from memory.

Full details of the programme can be found in the brochure which is now widely available Thanks to sponsorship from principal sponsor Labels Outlet Shopping and others, including Ross Town Council, Rehau and PGL, under-17s gain free admission to all concerts if accompanied by a ticket holder.

Tickets are on sale at The Tourist Information Centre and at The County Collection.
